A storyteller at heart, Laura loves to know what makes a company tick and is a firm believer in straight-talking, authentic communication.
A Journalism and Mass Communication graduate from The University of Iowa, Laura’s career began state-side as an undergraduate student-athlete on a scholarship with the women’s golf team. It was here, in the Mid-West, where she worked as a newspaper journalist and where she discovered her passion for PR.
Her next chapter saw a return to the UK and the start of a journey in public sector emergency service corporate communications, where she gained her experience communicating in a crisis. A stint at a local PR agency is where Laura met Rebecca.
After 12 years in dedicated communication roles, creative wanderlust soon set in and in December 2016 she took the plunge to join the Hull UK City of Culture 2017 team as a freelancer, supporting the marketing, PR and media teams, and working with the Hull 2017 partners to tell their story during the city’s incredible year.
Mum of two, recent home renovator, runner and lover of outdoor adventures, Laura is also co-founder of Camp Cool, so when she's not at Home she can be found having adventures under canvas.
